Reader's theater is an effective way to practice oral language skills, improve fluency, comprehension and story element analysis while giving struggling readers an authentic reason to read and reread. Many scripts can be adapted to puppets or the stage. Actors can perform with script in hand. Costumes, sets blocking and props are optional. Performance gives an authentic reason to read and reread aloud to develop the right inflection, volume and delivery of the lines. Beginning performers can concentrate on delivery and often have less anxiety since they have a script. Download "How to" for more information.
